Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and passionate Commis Chef to join our award-winning culinary team at Atlantis, The Palm. In this role, you will work alongside top chefs, assisting in food preparation and kitchen operations while gaining valuable experience to develop your culinary career. This position is perfect for someone looking to advance in the world of luxury hospitality.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in food preparation and ensure timely delivery of dishes according to kitchen standards.
  • Support senior chefs with daily kitchen operations, including mise en place, cooking, and plating.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in all kitchen areas, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in inventory management, including stock rotation, monitoring supplies, and notifying superiors of low stock.
  • Participate in kitchen training programs to continuously improve skills and techniques.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of ingredients, equipment, and utensils.
  • Contribute ideas for menu improvements and seasonal offerings in collaboration with senior chefs.
  • Ensure compliance with portion controls and minimize food waste.
  • Help with the preparation of special events and VIP guest requests as required.

 

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar role within a luxury hotel or high-end restaurant.
  • Basic culinary skills with a willingness to learn and develop professionally.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to take direction from senior chefs.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Positive attitude, passion for cooking, and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks.

 

Level of Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. A culinary certification or diploma is a plus.

 

Work Hours:
Full-time, flexible schedule including weekends and holidays. Shifts may vary.

 

Experience in Months:
12-24 months of experience in a similar role within an international luxury hotel or fine-dining establishment.
