Job Summary:
An opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader to join the Stewarding team at Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab Hotel. This role involves supervising stewarding operations to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the Food and Beverage outlets while leading and developing a cohesive team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Clean and maintain dishes, utensils, and operating equipment in Food and Beverage outlets, ensuring compliance with hygiene and sanitation standards.
  • Prepare operating equipment for banquet functions by counting, sorting, and organizing items efficiently.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks of kitchen equipment and utensils, maintaining them to a high standard to minimize breakage and ensure cleanliness.
  • Sanitize machinery and equipment according to established hygiene standards to prevent contamination.
  • Train and supervise stewarding staff, providing guidance on best practices and maintaining team morale.
  • Monitor the adherence to personal hygiene and grooming standards among staff, ensuring uniforms and name badges are worn correctly.
  • Prioritize security by remaining vigilant, reporting any suspicious circumstances to superiors, and ensuring safe handling of all equipment.
  • Maintain departmental areas in a safe and hygienic condition, promptly reporting any damage to furniture or equipment to management.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate cleaning schedules and ensure timely service during peak operations.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for stewarding activities to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members to encourage growth and development.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all stewarding operations.

 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a stewarding or similar role within a high-volume food service environment, preferably in a luxury hotel.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, capable of identifying issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with team members and other departments.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations is essential.

 

Level of Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in hospitality or food safety are a plus.

Work Hours:

  • Flexible availability required, including nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.

Experience in Months:

  • Minimum of 12 months of experience in stewarding or a similar role, with at least 6 months in a supervisory capacity.
