I am interested in applying for an elementary teaching position for the 2019-2020 school year. I have worked at different schools, teaching grades 1, 3 and 4. I have enjoyed working overseas and hope to obtain another overseas teaching position.

I just completed some professional development in robotics, taking week long classes in programming LEGO EV3 and VexIQ. I hope to integrate robotics into my classes either in direct teaching in a maker space or after school activities.

I have also completed a year of teaching math to years 2-5 at an international bilingual school in Thailand using the UK curriculum. I developed curriculum and assessments for the four different grades. I developed and taught lessons for a one-week English camp as well as
led activities for morning flag group and math club each week.

Being a graduate of California State University, Fullerton’s multiple subject teaching program, I feel well qualified to teach any elementary grade. I have learned much with my 11 years’ experience teaching first, third and fourth grade. The Beginning Teacher Support
and Assessment program was of benefit to me. I enjoy working with young students and know that teaching was the correct career path for me.

I enjoy teaching using realia, music, poems, TPR, and hands-on projects to teach English as well as the rest of the curriculum. I introduce vocabulary prior to many of my lessons. I also read
culturally relevant texts to my students so they will feel appreciated and respected in the classroom. I try to integrate technology into the classroom whenever possible. I use leveled readers to make sure students are reading in their zone of proximal development. Ongoing
assessment occurs regularly with all of my students.

In addition to my regular teaching duties, I co-coordinated an after-school program. I also coached three elementary basketball teams and ran a chess club. Tutoring after school helped several students make gains in their reading. I feel that whatever I contribute helps students become better learners.
