Having ten years of experience as a qualified teacher I have been able to facilitate learning for a wide range of age groups and for those with differing ability levels. My approach to teaching is positive and I am able to apply a range of teaching styles to facilitate cross curricular learning, and to ensure that the importance of ICT is integrated within the learning experience for students I teach.

The differing roles I have encountered over my career have allowed me to implement a range of strategies and develop professionally. The roles have included pastoral care, peer support role, and a mentoring roles for trainee PGCE teachers within their school placement. Working as a teaching assistant has also given me invaluable experience into the differing needs of students with additional needs and in particular those with visual impairments.

My career break from teaching allowed me to raise my children in their early years and facilitated for the opportunity to develop as an educator and a student. I attended many courses for children with speech and language delays and also spent three months completing an Autism Awareness programme. As a mother of a child with additional needs I have worked extremely hard to educate myself to further understand his needs and support his sensory and emotional development. I then implemented my skill set further to home school my younger two children through supporting their individual learning experiences. I adapted and developed my Secondary teaching experiences and skill to suit the needs of the early years and KS1 curriculum. I have been teaching my daughter to read and write in English and Arabic and developing her understanding of the world with cross curricular learning.

I have used various methods of assessment to monitor and ensure students learning. This includes both verbal feedback given to students during lessons as well as monitoring completion of work which correlates to evaluate, and work towards improving the effectiveness of my teaching and lesson planning. I take pride in record keeping and monitoring leaners progress over time and I have always been very diligent in keeping my records up to date for myself and also for the motivation of the students. As I have been managing a Mother Toddler Playgroup for the past two years I have developed the understanding of building confidence and realise the importance of verbal feedback being accessible for young children at all times.

Having graduated in BSc Business Computing Systems from City University, I am equipped with the knowledge of an array of different subjects in the I.T field enabling me to attain a wide variety of skills which I would now like to exercise in my career. As part of an independent work placement for my degree, I worked for IBM in Portsmouth. I managed and delivered training to IBM recruitment specialists worldwide and I enjoyed this aspect of the job as I built very good working relationships with the trainees. This skillset has supported me in my career as I believe I am an approachable and supportive individual who can be an asset to any team or work environment.

Throughout my educational experience and work experience there has been a strong emphasis placed upon teamwork. I have undertaken many collaborative projects with colleagues and peers and have consistently met the targets imparted upon me and those which I have set for myself. As a professional, I am always looking to broaden my skills. I have had the opportunity to function in a variety of educational settings, making it easier for me to adapt to new situations. I am aware of the developing changes to education in order to meet the needs of the students ensuring that the highest standards are met. I believe that it is important to be aware of different aspects of teaching and the ways in which students learning can be developed. In the environment of academia where social interaction is imperative, I believe that my communication skills and friendly nature are positive attributes in helping me to perform to the best of my ability. I believe that my broad range of skills will aid me in my role as a teacher where communication compliments organisational skills to achieve the best results. I also have good analytical skills and apply a methodical approach to problem solving. I feel that I have the skills required to bring excellent constancy service to the role and hope to corroborate myself as an industrious and indispensable teacher bringing ideas and enthusiasm to the job.

My decision to return to a career in teaching has enthused me to the challenging and ever developing nature of education and I relish the opportunity to excel in skills and knowledge.
Teaching gives me great satisfaction and I am determined to succeed and develop and insight into the ever changing nature of academia and to make it accessible for learners. I strongly believe that all learners are entitled to an education that meets their learning needs and that the diversity of experiences each student brings into the classroom is a valuable asset that should be treasured and respected. I have a desire to motivate all students to achieve their full potential, both academically and in their general lives. I feel that my enthusiasm for ICT allows me to present the subject in an interesting and inspiring way and I hope to be able to re-join the education field and continue with my passion.
