Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Kitchen Team Leader to oversee kitchen operations in a luxury restaurant or 5-star hotel environment. The ideal candidate will ensure smooth day-to-day kitchen functions while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety. You will provide leadership to kitchen staff and ensure all work aligns with hotel policies and health regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and direct kitchen helpers, cooks, kitchen attendants, and stewards to ensure efficient operations.
  • Communicate politely and courteously with guests and internal customers, addressing any concerns or requests.
  • Prepare food, beverages, materials, and equipment needed for service in advance, ensuring readiness.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic work environment according to hotel standards and HACCP regulations.
  • Enforce hotel and department policies, including house rules, health and safety, grooming, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure strict adherence to OH&S policies and procedures, conducting all tasks safely and in compliance with guidelines.
  • Attend daily briefings, meetings, and training sessions to stay updated on kitchen operations and safety procedures.
  • Monitor and log security incidents and accidents as per hotel policies, taking immediate action to address hazardous situations.
  • Coordinate special projects and other related duties as assigned by the superior.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with kitchen staff, fostering teamwork and open communication.
  • Ensure food quality meets the highest standards, consistently enhancing the menu and culinary experience.

 

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a luxury restaurant or 5-star hotel kitchen.
  • Strong leadership skills, capable of managing and leading a large kitchen team.
  • Passion for cooking, with the ability to create innovative and high-quality dishes.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with staff and guests effectively.
  • Commitment to health, safety, and hygiene practices in the kitchen.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and quality.

 

Level of Education:

  • Culinary certification or equivalent education preferred.

 

Work Hours:

  • Full-time, including weekends and holidays, with flexible shift schedules.

 

Experience in Months:

  • Minimum of 24 months of experience in a similar role within a luxury or 5-star environment.
