My passion for education started 21 years ago. I hit a pinnacle point in my career during Covid-19 whilst leading the
Intermediate Phase. During this time, I felt the urge to develop my leadership ability and I decided to do my Honours in
Education Leadership and Management. As daunting as this was, being a husband with two young children and working
full-time, I was up for the challenge. Having completed my honours last month, I will be able to apply the skills and
knowledge that I have learnt, in a more holistic manner within in any school environment. My research topic reads, “how
qualities of adaptability and teamwork could support leadership during a crisis”. This honours experience has not only helped
me professionally and personally, but I hope the research will add value to other leaders within a school.
