Payments Veteran

I am a veteran of 30 years within the Financial Services industry, mainly within the cards & payments area.

My experience has exposed me to the entire payments chain (merchant, acquirer, card scheme & issuer), to many payment channels (Internet, ATM/POS, Mobile), all of the card payment types (credit, debit and prepaid - both physical and virtual), as well as Wallet and Account-to-Account payments, to various customer service facilities (CSA, IVR, Internet/Mobile Self-Service) and to the various business areas (merchant services, authorisation, clearing, settlement, billing, fraud, security, compliance, marketing, sales, business development, legal, finance, etc.).

I have worked within payment schemes (Europay/MasterCard), Banks (Barclays) and software/services suppliers (BPC, Alaric Systems [now NCR], Fidelity/eFunds/Oasis and S1 Corporation).

My roles within organisations have mainly been in Programme/Project Management (more than 14 years), reporting into the senior executive, where I’ve managed teams of up to 24 people (locally and remotely) and budgets of up to $2.4 million, within organisations, applying matrix management.

Over the last 11 or so years I have worked in the Pre-Sales area (Alaric and BPC) working on products which support banks, processors, PSPs, FinTech’s, fuel & fleet organisations, telecoms and airlines. These have been primarily transaction switching, authorization, card management, fraud and merchant management.

I have worked on application development, in parallel and cooperatively with infrastructure teams and lead customer implementation activities (including with 3rd parties and system integrators), so I am equally comfortable dealing with customers’, as well as technical and business people.

Over the last 2 or 3 years, I have “worn two hats”, also acting as a Senior Project Manager for BPC’s Processing division, focused on the delivery of projects within the SaaS environment; both On Premise (within our own Data Centres), as well as Cloud-based (Oracle OCI).

My entrepreneurial nature makes me take ownership and responsibility and drives me to improve efficiency and focus on customer delight as well as “the bottom line”.

I am someone who can build rapport, provide leadership, create vision and generate excitement. I can motivate and inspire teams, and build customer confidence.

I am a person who can make a real impact within an organisation and can “get the job done” whilst at the same time building strong morale and a positive spirit within an organisation.
