I studied a 4 year teaching degree course at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and obtained a degree in Education (B. Ed). I have practical experience at several primary schools where I did practical teaching during my 4 years of studying. In 2010 I started working at Gordon’s Bay Primary school, only for 1 year. I then worked at Brackenfell High school from 2011 until August 2016. I taught the following subject during my 5 years at Brackenfell: Natural Science (Gr 8), Life Science (Gr 9), Physical Education/Life Orientation (Gr 10-12) , Mathematical Literacy (Gr 10-11), Technology (Gr 8-9) and Engineering Graphics and Design (Gr 10-11). In September 2016 I started my teaching career in the UAE at Al Moatasem School in the Abu Dhabi emirate as a cycle 2 science teacher. They have been using the CAPS curriculum in South African public schools and changed from a British curriculum to the American Common Core curriculum, also implementing the ALEF platform. I am very capable of using technology in the class room for example a computer/lab top, data projector, inter active white board etc. I am a hard working individual that puts in a lot of hours and effort in the class room. I treats all students with respect and equity.

Self-description: “My name is Niell Horn and I am qualified to teach any subject for learners from Gr 4-9, as long as the teaching medium is English. I am also very capable of teaching Physical Education/ Life Orientation, Engineering Graphics and Design and Mathematical Literacy for learners from Gr 10-12. I have a B. Ed degree and have been teaching for the last 10 years. In South Africa we used the CAPS curriculum and in the UAE I taught the UK and American Curriculums. I am available to start working from August 2019. I enjoy being challenged and I am capable of anything I put my mind to. As person I am very fond of taking part and coaching various types of sport including rugby, tennis, cricket, hockey, athletic disciplines, cross country, cycling, squash, golf etc.” I am currently an active UAE rugby referee, after playing rugby for 2 years for the Abu Dhabi Harlequins.
