Job Summary:
The Senior Captain at Shang Palace, Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi, is responsible for assisting the Service Manager in delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role involves leading the service team, ensuring efficient operations, and maintaining the high standards of service expected in an award-winning restaurant.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the service team, ensuring smooth daily operations and consistent high-quality service.
  • Interact with guests to understand their preferences and provide personalized recommendations.
  • Guide guests through the a-la-carte menu, offering insights on dishes and beverages to enhance their dining experience.
  • Ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of guest orders while coordinating with culinary and service teams.
  • Monitor service standards, ensuring that all guest interactions are handled professionally and with warmth.
  • Handle guest complaints or queries efficiently, working with the Service Manager to provide effective solutions.
  • Oversee the setup and maintenance of the dining area, ensuring cleanliness, proper table settings, and ambiance.
  • Assist in training new staff members, providing guidance on service procedures and guest relations.
  • Support the Service Manager in managing inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels of beverages and service supplies.
  • Assist with managing guest reservations and coordinating seating arrangements to optimize service flow.
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, ensuring that food handling and service practices meet hotel standards.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 18 months of experience in food and beverage service within a luxury hospitality or fine dining environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in additional languages is an advantage.
  • A passion for food, drink, and providing top-tier guest experiences.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with food safety standards, health regulations, and luxury service protocols.
  • A friendly, approachable demeanor with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment, adapting to the needs of guests and colleagues.

 

Level of Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in hospitality or food and beverage service is an advantage.

Work Hours:
Full-time, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Experience in Months:
18+ months of relevant experience in a similar role.
