Job Summary:
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Captain for our Pool Bar at Shangri-La Qaryat al Beri, Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will assist the Service Manager in delivering exceptional service while inspiring team members to maintain the high standards for which Shangri-La is renowned.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the service team to ensure a seamless and high-quality guest experience.
  • Interact with guests to understand their needs and preferences, providing personalized recommendations.
  • Guide guests through the à la carte and buffet options, ensuring they are well-informed about the menu offerings.
  • Fulfill guest orders efficiently and accurately, maintaining organization in service delivery.
  • Collaborate with culinary and service teams to ensure timely communication and execution of guest requests.
  • Address guest queries and complaints with empathy, working closely with colleagues and the Service Manager to find effective solutions.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in the pool bar area.
  • Monitor and evaluate service performance, providing feedback and training to team members as needed.
  • Assist in managing inventory and ensuring proper stock levels for the bar and service areas.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of promotional events and special functions at the pool bar.

 

Requirements:

  • Strong passion for food, beverages, and delivering a five-star guest experience.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a warm and approachable demeanor.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in luxury hospitality or customer service, ideally in a food and beverage role.
  • Knowledge of cocktails, wines, and spirits, along with upselling techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and basic computer skills.

 

Level of Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; degree in hospitality management or related field preferred.

Work Hours:

  • Full-time position with flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Experience in Months:

  • Minimum of 24 months of experience in a similar role within luxury hospitality.
