Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Pastry Chef to join our team at Jumeirah Saadiyat Island Resort. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the pastry kitchen operations, creating innovative pastry concepts, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and presentation are met. This role will play a key part in delivering exceptional culinary experiences to our guests while maintaining cost efficiency.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of pastry preparation, production, and presentation for the resort's dining outlets.
  • Assist in the preparation and management of the departmental budget, ensuring cost control and profitability.
  • Collaborate with Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef to align pastry offerings with overall menu design and guest preferences.
  • Develop and implement new pastry and bakery innovations, staying ahead of trends and seasonal demands.
  • Continuously update and maintain the Pastry Department SOP Manual, including performance standards, safety regulations, and procedures.
  • Oversee the opening and management of the resort's new Cake Shop, ensuring successful operations from launch.
  • Train and mentor junior pastry chefs and kitchen staff to ensure skill development and consistent quality.
  • Ensure all food safety and hygiene standards are met in accordance with HACCP and local regulations.
  • Monitor inventory levels, manage stock, and order supplies as necessary to maintain efficient kitchen operations.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless service delivery and guest satisfaction.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in luxury hotel pastry kitchens, with progressively senior roles.
  • Proven track record of leadership in managing pastry teams and large-scale operations.
  • Expertise in pastry techniques, including intricate dessert creations, chocolate work, and bakery production.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost control, and inventory management.
  • Ability to adapt and innovate in a fast-paced, dynamic hospitality environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for delivering world-class guest experiences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and collaborate with a diverse team.

 

Level of Education:

  • Diploma or degree in Culinary Arts, Pastry, or related field from an accredited institution.

Work Hours:

  • Full-time position with flexible working hours, including weekends and holidays.

Experience in Months:

  • Minimum 60-84 months (5-7 years) of relevant pastry experience in a high-end, luxury hospitality setting.
