Job Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Dishwasher/Steward to join our culinary team. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our kitchen, ensuring that all dishes, utensils, and equipment are sanitized and ready for use, while supporting overall kitchen operations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Operate dishwashing equipment to efficiently clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, including surfaces, floors, and storage areas.
  • Sort, stack, and store cleaned dishes and utensils, ensuring easy access and efficient workflows.
  • Monitor and manage waste disposal, including recycling, to maintain cleanliness and compliance with health regulations.
  • Provide assistance to kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks and event setups as needed.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure smooth kitchen operations and timely service delivery.
  • Promptly report any malfunctioning kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to the appropriate team.
  • Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies, replenishing items as needed and notifying management when restocking is required.
  • Conduct regular safety checks to ensure compliance with fire regulations and that safety equipment is functional.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding stewarding activities and cleanliness concerns.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge of kitchen operations and sanitation practices.

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a stewarding or kitchen support role is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to lift and carry moderate loads; good physical stamina to stand for long periods.
  • Strong attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen.
  • Clear verbal communication skills and ability to follow instructions effectively.
  • Adherence to hygiene and sanitation standards in food service environments.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work well within a diverse team.
  • Openness to learning new tasks and adapting to the dynamic nature of kitchen operations.
  • Proactive approach to taking initiative in completing tasks and contributing to the kitchen’s success.
  • Flexibility to assist in various kitchen support roles and responsibilities as required.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety standards is a plus.
