Job Summary:
The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food items according to recipes and quality standards, ensuring all food is prepared in a timely manner. This role requires maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment while working closely with the kitchen team to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking by washing, chopping, portioning, and storing them properly.
  • Cook and plate food according to standardized recipes, presentation guidelines, and portion control.
  • Operate and maintain various kitchen equipment, including ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.
  • Monitor food quality during preparation, ensuring it meets the required standards and safety guidelines.
  • Test foods to determine if they are cooked to the correct temperature and doneness.
  • Set up and break down workstations, ensuring cleanliness and organization throughout the shift.
  • Serve food in the proper portions onto appropriate dishes or receptacles.
  • Wash and sanitize kitchen tools, knives, equipment, and surfaces to maintain hygiene standards.
  • Check and verify the accuracy of appliance and food temperatures.
  • Follow safety protocols by reporting maintenance issues, accidents, and unsafe conditions to management.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to reach shared kitchen goals and maintain a positive environment.
  • Adhere to company policies, safety standards, and confidentiality protocols.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisors, including assisting with inventory and food storage.

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; culinary education is a plus.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a similar role within a professional kitchen setting.
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment and follow food safety procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, reach overhead, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Must be flexible with work schedules, including weekends and holidays.
  • No supervisory experience required; however, the ability to work under minimal supervision is essential.
