Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Commis I to assist in daily food preparation and uphold the highest standards of quality in our kitchen. This role is crucial for maintaining exceptional service and culinary excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Chef de Partie or Demi Chef de Partie with daily kitchen operations.
- Follow menu specifications and guidelines set by the Chef de Partie for food preparation.
- Maintain a hygienic work area in compliance with hotel standards at all times.
- Monitor and control food stock and costs within your assigned section.
- Prepare daily mis-en-place and contribute to food production across various kitchen sections.
- Adhere to instructions and recommendations from supervisors to complete daily tasks efficiently.
- Ensure the highest quality standards in food preparation and stay updated on new products, recipes, and techniques.
- Collaborate with other kitchen sections to ensure cleanliness, minimize waste, and control costs.
- Participate in menu development by providing feedback on new dishes and preparation methods.
- Assist in training new kitchen staff and share knowledge of best practices.
Requirements:
- Professional kitchen apprenticeship or completion of a chef training course.
- Previous experience in quality establishments, with a proven track record of culinary skills.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, presentation, and preservation techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Familiarity with kitchen safety and hygiene standards.
Level of Education:
- Culinary degree or equivalent vocational training in cooking.
Work Hours:
- Full-time, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Experience in Months:
- Minimum of 12 months in a similar role within a high-volume kitchen environment.
