Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated and motivated individual to join our culinary team as a Commis Chef at Bab Al Shams Desert Resort. You will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of high-quality dishes, maintaining sanitation standards, and ensuring that kitchen operations run smoothly. This role requires a keen eye for detail, teamwork, and a passion for delivering an exceptional culinary experience.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of food items as per standard recipes and guest requirements.
  • Ensure all food production areas maintain high levels of cleanliness and sanitation to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Support the Chef de Partie and Demi-Chef in the production of mise-en-place for all menu items.
  • Follow all company safety and security policies, reporting any accidents, injuries, or unsafe work conditions to the manager.
  • Maintain organized and clean workstations, ensuring food quality and presentation meet hotel standards.
  • Adhere to Dubai Municipality health, hygiene, and safety regulations, complying with HACCP standards.
  • Assist in inventory management and monitor food waste to help control costs.
  • Participate in departmental cleaning schedules and assist the Stewarding Department when necessary.
  • Attend and contribute to training sessions and team meetings, applying knowledge gained to improve work performance.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, exercising self-control and professionalism when under pressure.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely food service.
  • Uphold the high standards of uniform, grooming, and personal hygiene in line with hotel policies.
  • Respond to guest feedback and culinary trends to ensure continuous improvement and guest satisfaction.

 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Commis Chef or similar role in a 5-star hotel or fine dining establishment.
  • Strong understanding of food hygiene, safety, and HACCP principles.
  • Ability to follow recipes and cooking techniques with precision and care.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and meet deadlines without compromising food quality.
  • Basic computer literacy, with familiarity in Microsoft Windows applications.
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Attention to detail, with the ability to maintain high standards even during busy service periods.

 

Level of Education:
Hospitality qualification or relevant culinary training.

 

Work Hours:
Full-time position, including weekends, holidays, and evening shifts as per operational requirements.

 

Experience in Months:
Minimum 12 months of experience in a similar role within a 5-star hotel environment.
