Job Summary:
The Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality food items according to recipes and standards, ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently and meets all quality and safety requirements. The role includes food preparation, cooking, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. The Cook works closely with kitchen staff to ensure that meals are delivered on time and meet guests’ expectations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, and portioning according to recipe requirements.
  • Cook and prepare meals following established recipes, presentation, and portioning standards.
  • Operate kitchen equipment including ovens, stoves, grills, fryers, and microwaves.
  • Monitor food quality during preparation, testing items to ensure they are properly cooked.
  • Set up and break down workstations, ensuring tools and surfaces are clean and sanitized.
  • Serve food in appropriate portions and presentation, ensuring it meets quality standards.
  • Check food temperatures during preparation and storage to comply with safety regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen by washing utensils, equipment, and work areas regularly.
  • Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring freshness and proper rotation of stock.
  • Follow safety procedures, including reporting maintenance needs, accidents, and unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and ensure compliance with all company policies and standards.
  • Communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Contribute to the overall team effort by taking on additional tasks as needed, including training new staff.
  • Uphold food safety, quality standards, and health code regulations at all times.

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a kitchen or food preparation role is preferred.
  • Ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety practices, including proper storage and handling procedures.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food quality.
  • Must be flexible to work shifts, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions precisely, with a focus on quality and consistency.
