Ph. D in Chemistry with five years of teaching experience

I am Dr. Aftab Ahmad from Pakistan. I got my Ph.D. in chemistry (Nanotechnology) from the Beijing University of Chemical Technology China. The active research area of my Ph.D. studies was the preparation of nanoscale materials for biomedical and catalytic applications. We investigated the reducing and stabilizing capabilities of the aqueous extracts of Chinese medicinal plants in the successful conversion of metal salts into their corresponding nanoparticles. This way, the medicinal importance of the traditionally used medicinal plants was augmented in a natural product-metal hybrid system. The as-prepared delivery system was applied in the treatment of bacterial and Leishmania infections. The biosynthesized metal nanoparticles exhibited significant results in arresting the growth of various pathogens, and the obtained data were published in well-reputed scientific journals. Based on my scientific contributions, I was awarded as top ten international and excellent international graduate student awards in 2015 and 2017, respectively. After my Ph.D. During my Ph. D., studies, I published eight research papers in well-reputed peer reviewed international journals. I obtained a postdoc fellowship (2017-2020) at Beijing University of chemical technology Beijing China (2017-2020), where I was actively involved in the preparation of selenium and tellurium-based alloy nanorods for application in energy storage devices. We designed metals-based alloy nanorods of different aspect ratios and enwrapped them in reduced graphene oxide. The as-prepared hybrid system was applied as an anode material in a Lithium-ion battery, which displayed excellent results concerning charge-discharge cycles and stability of the anode material. The findings of this project were published in Inorganic chemistry frontiers. In another project, ZnO and Selenium-based heterojunction composite was synthesized by a newly designed green method, which was successfully used as a photothermal antibacterial agent. The results of this project were published in the Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B; Biology.

In addition to my research expertise, I have FIVE years of teaching experience at the Institute of Chemical Sciences, University of Peshawar. My duty assignments included teaching the selected topics in Biochemistry and practical demonstration of the laboratory experiments to BS and M.Sc. students.
