Experienced Music and ESL TeacherI am a Canadian music and ESL teacher that is pursuing a teaching position in Dubai.
From my personal experience as a music teacher, music education is a powerful tool that enables children to succeed in a rapidly changing world. It is a great way to merge cultures and to encourage confidence, compassion, cooperation, communication and listening skills. As a result, this has motivated me to continue my teaching career in Dubai.
During my two years in Bahrain, my colleagues and students would refer to me as someone who is very passionate about teaching and who encourages young children to work as a team, developing their ability to understand each other’s differences. As well, someone who is extremely dedicated to merging cultures and serving as a role model for social change. As a result, I believe that these characteristics would be a strong match to your school, since these are similar values we share, which is what attracted me to apply for this position.
Moreover, when I was teaching in Bahrain, I taught general music, violin, recorder, piano to students from Prep-Year 6. Also, implementing the IGCSE curriculum to Year 7 and 8 students. My younger students performed at the highest level in their yearly winter and talent show concerts, whereas my Year 7 and 8 students received outstanding IGCSE results.
I am currently teaching at The Music Chamber Institute in Dubai, UAE, as a part time Theory and Aural instructor. I support students by improving their knowledge of music theory and aural capabilities, supplementing their instrumental lessons and preparing them for the prestigious ABRSM and Trinity examinations. I teach students from ages 10 years old to 15 years old, all of them widely varying in their theory and aural capabilities, as well as grade level ranging from grade 1- 8.
Most importantly, I have a strong educational background to prove my teaching capabilities. I received my Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Toronto, Canada. Additionally, my Master of Music degree with a cognate and specialty in string pedagogy, from the Jacob's School of Music at Indiana University, U.S.A. Both universities are regarded as one of the most reputable music institutions, with mentor ship by some of the most well respected professionals in the world. Furthermore, I am a multi-instrumentalist that is able to teach and play the violin, viola, piano and recorder. Subsequently, I am CELTA certified and bilingual in English and Arabic, serving as a language and cultural mentor to students.
Therefore, based on my characteristics, skills, experience and education I am confident that I would be a strong candidate.
Thank you for your time and consideration, I look forward to hearing from you shortly.
Best,
Mo
