A SYNOPSIS OF MY Emergency Experience
My passion for emergency medicine started when I finished my one year of internship in DHA hospitals.
I took up cardiology and emergency in the last two years of my residency program in DHA hospitals.
I worked on shift basis of eight and a half hours each, so rotating thrice a week which gave me the chance to meet up specific cases that come during early mornings like myocardial infarctions and others besides for example drug addicts, pulmonary edema , acute asthmatic patients , during day time and night time I managed serious cases too like cut wounds whether accidental or not , stab wounds , suicidal attempts , near drowning patients , hyperglycemia with ketoacidosis, hypoglycemic , Mediterranean fever attacks , sickle cell anemia attacks, wound infections, acute abdomen , removal of foreign bodies from ear, nose or eye.
I also managed acute renal failures, epistaxis, cardiogenic shocks, hypertensive urgencies and emergencies.
I detected open tuberculosis patients back in the 90, who were admitted to a special unit for tuberculosis patients.
During my second year of residency in the ER I was one of the in charge physicians to have junior doctors in the ER, train them and evaluate their stay period time with me. Which continued till I was promoted to a senior registrar in
Dubai hospital emergency department.
I used to take part in CME as well within the ER, delivering lectures and attending refreshment courses.
In AlGarhood private hospital I was appointed as senior ER physician, and used to manage usually the most difficult cases that came in, give advices to other doctors on how to manage different cases, difficult patients, I am always comfortable in a team work and tend to hold the lead around me.
There was a period of probably 3 months where there was no HOD for the ER and I was given the post till they appointed one.
As per my annual evaluations, I used to stand B always (no one was given A) while most of the team members got C.
I love being my job as an ER physician. I have the ability to make fast wise decisions, lead a team and keep an eye on how the patients and relatives are respected and well taken care of.
