I have been a carpenter for 15 years and have vast knowledge and understanding of the building industry in both the United Kingdom and New Zealand.
My position of Senior Foreman for 2 years in New Zealand was to be responsible for the supervision and coordination of site personnel and subcontractors, the reporting of all the relevant site activities and managing the quality of work performed.
My key responsibilities include being able to clearly explain steps, provide clear directions and answer questions about construction processes to employees and subcontractors. With having the length of time I've had in the building industry I have gained an eye for detail and knowledge of residential and commercial construction including practices, procedures, techniques, quality control, safety and applicable building codes.
The fact that I had been promoted at the company in New Zealand from Carpenter to Senior Foreman to be responsible for the supervision of up to 30 staff within a month shows that I now have an international reputation and record of excellence in my occupational field.
I can deal and have dealt with key relationships and external linkages such as consultants, contractors and sub contractors.
I feel l would benefit any company I work for or with in regards to identifying resourcing needs such as labour, machinery, materials, subcontractors etc to make sure they are effectively utilised and monitored in order to achieve timely completion of projects.
My current role and responsibilities as a Finishing Manager include being responsible for all day to day activities for contractors on site ensuring that each project is delivered to the Client to the required quality standards and within agreed timescales. In addition, I deputise for the Construction Manager as required and act as an ambassador for the company in managing the Client experience throughout construction and handover.
I have been in this position for a year now and have recently finished a £7million care home to a very high spec.
My current company specialise in the construction of quality living space in the form of care home and apartments.
