Morvarid Taghrizi

SEN Specialist

Throughout my studies, both at school and University, I have shown a strong and sustained commitment to my interest and engagement with psychology. I have purposefully sought out opportunities to engage in additional research or work opportunities and have engaged fully in the undergraduate research community with particular interest in autism and SEN. I have kept apace with current research in my field and I have regularly attended conferences and papers held at the University of Westminster. I have throughout my studies had a particular interest in autism and SEN and this is reflected through both my module selections at the University of Westminster and through my work experience. I recognise the challenges that autism presents in an educational setting whilst also understanding the difficulties students can experience. I am keen to help the students with autism and SEN who I interact with have the best and most positive learning outcomes and I believe that with my professional attitude, SEN knowledge and compassionate nature l am well placed to offer this support to students and professionally. I have excellent organisational skills which are evidenced through my work, university and in a psychology workplace. I have excellent computer literacy skills and I am able to use Word and Excel as well as SPSS and Qualtrics. I am keen to expand this knowledge in order to further my training. At work I am a confident and considerate person who is always willing to listen to new ideas and engage with whatever is asked of me. I am a team player, however, I am also happy working independently when necessary. I believe I would be an asset to any workplace and can bring organisational skills, research ability and enthusiasm.

I am a keen team worker and I recognise the importance of this in an SEN setting. I am self motivated and willing to problem solve to resolve any challenges that may present themselves. An example where I have put my team work into practice is at the Collingham Child and Family Centre. In this placement I offered support both to the children and the multi-disciplinary team when I worked through relevant programmes with the children and took on some of the tasks for the counsellors. I have always endeavored to provide the highest level of support to those who I work with. I am a keen and positive team worker.

I believe empathy is essential in any psychology role. The situations that the children and adolescent find themselves are frequently challenging and it is vital, I believe, to be able to empathise with the children’s difficulties or concerns and those of their parents.

I have a clear and genuine interest in the provision of high quality education for SEN students and I am committed to ensuring that I always work hard to assist other students. I have been involved in extra curricular activities such as the successful ‘Friendship Group’ which worked to build friendships between students with SEN challenges.

Having completed a 4 year BSc Psychology degree at the University of Westminster, I have developed an increasing focus throughout my studies and work on SEN requirements in an educational setting. Throughout the year I worked in a family centre I have proved to be an integral part of the psychology team working to provide the highest level of educational and behavioural assistance to those who I worked for. I always integrate my psychology knowledge and training in an education setting.
